Zere

This collection is inspired by the figure of Zere — the grandmother of Abai Kunanbayev, whose presence in Kazakh tradition is associated with the role of a guardian of the family and a unifying force within the lineage.

Wisdom and Kindness

Her given name was Tokbala. The name Zere, meaning “gold”, became associated with her in recognition of her status, wisdom, and kindness. She is perceived as a keeper of tradition and the spiritual matriarch of the Kunanbayev lineage, preserving its cultural and spiritual continuity despite external influences.

Balance

Zere raised Abai with an emphasis on kindness and spiritual clarity, in contrast to the harsh conditions of their time. At the core of the collection, the ornaments tortqulaq, qoibas, and tuyetaban exist in balance, expressing softness and strength as interconnected qualities. The collection reflects an inner equilibrium, where stability is achieved through the symbiosis of opposites.
