Batyr

A heritage collection by KazakhYuvelir dedicated to Batyrkhan Shukenov, created in collaboration with the Batyrkhan Shukenov Foundation as a tribute to his legacy. At its core lies an attempt to translate music into form and to preserve in material what usually exists in time — sound, rhythm, and breath.

Batyrkhan Shukenov

A musician, composer, and saxophonist whose work united people across cultures and perspectives, conveying values of peace, sincerity, and fidelity to one’s roots. His songs became a shared cultural code for those who came of age in the 1990s, as well as for those discovering Kazakh music today. He was perceived not only as an artist, but as a bearer of a distinct intonation — restrained, precise, and profound. This sensibility forms the foundation of the collection.

Saxophone

At the centre of the design is Batyr’s instrument — the alto saxophone. The collection is built around its details, most notably the keys. Reinterpreted as jewelry elements, they become the primary motif of form. Through them, the idea of process is conveyed — movement, pressure, and pause — the very elements from which music is composed.

Design

The collection is conceived as a system of interconnected elements. Core forms are complemented by detachable components, allowing the composition to be transformed and reassembled. This creates a sense of variation — as in music, where a single theme may be expressed in different ways. In this way, the jewelry becomes not a static object, but a form that invites interaction.
